Fr. George Smith CSB is a priest of the Congregation of St. Basil (Basilian Fathers). He is currently William and Helen Cavanaugh Endowed Chair of Catholic Studies at St. John Fisher University. Before coming to St. John Fisher, he served as Superior General of the Basilian Fathers from 2010-18. Prior to that, he was President of St. Joseph’s College in Edmonton, Alberta from 1992-98, and President of St. Thomas More College in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from 2000-10. Between 2018 and 2022 he served in interim roles as Dean of the Faculty of Theology, and then Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at St. Paul University in Ottawa, Ontario.
